Rally Heritage

Rallying is one of the most highly demanding forms of motorsport in the world, taking place over some of the most varied racing conditions imaginable while pushing vehicle and driver to the limit. Regardless of weather or course conditions rally drivers strive to post the fastest time possible by placing their trust in their skills, their co-driver, their team and their car.

The team-oriented, daunting and ever-changing nature of rallying is the perfect arena for Subaru to develop and refine its core technologies in the pursuit of one goal: to prove the superiority of the Subaru symmetrical full-time All-Wheel Drive system. Since establishing a strong presence on the world circuit in 1990 and the Canadian circuit in 1992, Subaru has done just that, becoming one of the most dominant forces in rallying - much to the benefit of our customers. The lessons learned through Subaru's extensive rally heritage are evident in our full line-up of vehicles, including our rally-inspired, award-winning Impreza WRX and Impreza WRX STi.

World Rally

The World Rally Championship (WRC) series is contested in 16 countries around the world and over such diverse conditions as hard-packed snow, rock-strewn gravel, greasy tarmac and icy alpine roads. Since its first WRC event win in 1993, the Subaru World Rally Team (SWRT) has become a dominant force in the World Rally Championship, helping Subaru win three consecutive Manufacturers' Titles from 1995 to 1997. The 2004 season looks to be an interesting one for SWRT, as 2003 World Rally Champion Petter Solberg will be back to defend his title and the team will launch the latest version of its now legendary rally car, the Impreza WRC2004.
